Are you an engine or an anchor?

Are you an engine or an anchor? by Ms. Donna L. Quesinberry, National Writing Examiner . . .

When considering wordsmiths – both an engine and an anchor sound equally engaging. You may desire to drive your reader to greater heights of understanding but you also might desire readers remain synced in and focused on content. Is one better than the other? If we were talking relationships, such as those Sunil Bali discusses in his titles:

  • The Book of Awesome Humour: Quite Simply, One of the Funniest Books Ever1 Apr 2012 | Kindle eBook by Sunil Bali
  • The Art of Awesome Living: An Inspirational Guide On How To Achieve More Success, More Easily, With Less Stress1 Apr 2012 | Kindle eBook by Sunil Bali
  • Mind, Set & Match: How To Do The Work That You Were Born To Do1 Apr 2012 | Kindle eBook by Sunil Bali

then the engine is our best friend and we’d favor the engine over the anchor:

There comes a time when you have to decide whether the other person in the relationship is an engine that drives you forward, or is an anchor that weighs you down. A ship is designed to take you places, so if your friendship, partnership, or relationship isn’t taking you anywhere, then its time to abandon ship!

I was checking out my google search results and found this post from my old blogger account! Not too horror related, but I think you all might find it interesting. If you are one of the five people that visited my old blog and read it earlier this year I apologize:)

The world of publishing has changed drastically in the last century. The printed word is becoming more of a thing of the past as e-books and audio recordings become more of an everyday alternative. As a result the marketing procedures and promotional mediums have changed just as dramatically. The science fiction genre is no exception as the technologies prophesized in the infancy of science fiction become a reality. Writers must take the current publishing environment into consideration when constructing a marketing plan for their works.

DonnaInk Publications signs Author Bradley Latham and his title, “Haunted Hotel”

Author Bradley Latham answered negotiation for his title, “Haunted Hotel” in the affirmative for representation and publishing by DonnaInk Publications.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: PRLog (Press Release) Nov 05, 2012 – Ms. Donna L. Quesinberry, CEO | President of DonnaInk Publications, announced successful negotiation in signing author Bradley Latham and his new title, “Haunted Hotel.” Donna states, “Mr. Latham takes an unusual approach to the age old tale of hauntings in his campy, albeit serious Haunted Hotel. Through the Kimball Hotel’s postmortem residency, Latham’s imaginative pen yields a revolutionary storyline, which segways into striking afterlife tributes among segments of society typically overlooked in classical ghost tale literature.”
Bradley presents life after death perspectives through vividly entertaining characterizations. Dialogue is served up in a deliberately verbose humored wit. The imagery of this rich historical setting comes to life and Bradley’s literary flair invites newcomers to feel at home while the hotel afterlife frequenters engage new explorations at virtually every turn of the page. The Kimball Hotel first opened in 1911 and recently celebrating its 100th anniversary. While no longer a posh, upper-class playground for which it was once celebrated, the hotel has experienced consistent revolution over the decades – welcoming a lot of afterlife scores to settle. Today, the Kimball Hotel remains a hauntingly good venue for ghostly adventures!
Mr. Latham is a Harvard graduate who published two non-fiction titles in economics through the American Management Association. He was also a primary writer for energy conservation at an electric utility group. While there, Bradley managed $3M plus conservation remedy funds, which grew under his tutelage to over $100M per annum.
Five years ago, Mr. Latham experienced a tragedy, which left him disabled; however, turning a lemon into lemonade – he made this his new beginning as a fiction writer. “Haunted Hotel,” is the first of “The Kimball Hauntings” series to released in eBook and trade paperback for the 2012 holiday season catalog (25 November 2012) at DonnaInk Publications. Limited warehoused print run is slated for spring 2013.
